Worship

Church service is held Sundays at 9am and Wednesdays at 7pm. Special services for Holy days. 

A nursery room is available in the conference room outside of the sanctuary adjacent to the Narthex.  Toys are available in the containers in the back corner.  A speaker can be turned on so that the adult with them can still hear the service.

Holy Communion: Holding to our Lutheran heritage, we believe, teach, and confess that Christ is truly present in, with, and under the bread and wine. All who believe that Jesus Christ is their Savior are invited to the Lord's Table at St. Matthew. Please fill out a communion card at least once each month and put in the collection plate. Please fill our a communion card at least once a month. Please turn it in to the usher at the time of communion, put it into the secretary's box outside of the office, or put in the collection plate at the Sanctuary entrance.

Prayer cards: Located in the card rack in the pews. If you have a need for special prayers, please fill out a prayer card, please print clearly. then hand tit to an usher, or you can give it to the Pastor before or after worship.

Worship Service Opportunities

Altar Guild: Members of the Altar Guild prepare Communion for worship services and adorn the altar with appropriate paraments, altar clothes, and candles. Serving on the Altar Guild is voluntary. Schedules are prepared at least three (3) months in advance. Two (2) volunteers are assigned to serve, usually for a one (1) month period of time. Altar Guild members are expected to attend a yearly training session. 

Ushers: Ushers provide a valuable service at each worship session. The position of usher is voluntary and scheduled for each week. Schedules are prepared three (3) months in advance. Ushers are expected to attend a yearly training session. 

Greeters: Greeters are important in setting the feeling of community in our church. A friendly welcome to church is always appreciated; especially by visitors. Serving as a Greeter is voluntary.  Two (2) Greeters are scheduled for Sunday worship services. They are scheduled each week, at least three (3) months in advance.

Readers: Scripture Readers assist the Pastor in the worship service. Serving as a Scripture Reader is voluntary. A reader shall be scheduled each week, at least three (3) months in advance. scripture Readers should have good oral reading skills. The Reader shall use a properly-positioned microphone. Scripture readers are expected to attend a yearly training session.

Adult Choir: Adult choir meets every other week. Off for the summer season. 

Christian Education

New Members Classes: These classes introduce fundamental Lutheran teachings and how we work together as a congregation. 

Sunday School Classes: September through May, 4k-6th grade students join us on Sundays after worship during our education hour (10:30am-11:30am) to have fun and learn the amazing stories of the Bible. 

Confirmation Classes: Classes continue the teaching of Holy Scripture and introduce students to fundamental teachings of Martin Luther and the practices of the Lutheran church. 

Adult Forum: On Sunday mornings following 9 a.m worship, Adult Forum is held in the upstairs conference room during the education hour. 

Family Services

*Please note St. Matthew has a fellowship hall and kitchen facilities available for rental use.

Fees and usage available upon request* 

Premarital Counseling: Before having a religious ceremony, premarital counseling is required. For more details, please contact Pastor. 

Weddings: We perform religious ceremonies inside St. Matthew church or at the chosen location. Please contact Pastor for more details. 

Baptism: The sacrament of Holy Baptism is an entrance into a relationship with God and God's church. We perform the sacrament of Holy Baptism at any age.

Funeral Services: When you lose a loved one, we will work with you in your grief. Funerals provide an opportunity to share God's presence in death and the promise of eternal life for all who trust in him. Please contact the Pastor for more details. 


Food Pantry (Community Service) 

Food Pantry: Second Thursday of the month at 10:00am. Third Thursday of the month at 6:00pm. Call the church office for more information. 

Church Committees

Board of Education: The Board of Education provides leadership for the educational programs of the congregation.

Church Council: Council consists of eight members plus the pastor. Council oversees the functioning bodies of the church. 

LYO - Lutheran Youth Organization: LYO is a social group that has activities for middle and high school members of the church to support spiritual growth. 

Maintenance Committee: The Maintenance committee is tasked with upkeep and maintenance of the church and its properties. 

Memorial Committee: The Memorial Committee is to provide direction in the use of memorial gifts given to the church.

Stewardship Committee: The Stewardship Committee is to provide leadership and direction of finances, time, and talents within the church. 

WELCA - Women's Evangelical Lutheran Church of America: WELCA is for the women of the church to come together for study, support, and action.

Worship & Witness: The Worship and Witness committee helps with various aspects of worship services such as readings, picking out music, and more.
